Giving Tuesday 2025: Fostering Futures One eBike at a Time

At Lectric, we’re proud to partner with Arizona foster children to reinvest directly into our local community, and this year, we took that commitment even further. We increased our scholarship count from 10 to 30 full-ride scholarships through the Fostering Futures program at Grand Canyon University, helping more foster youth access education that may otherwise be out of reach.

These scholarships don’t just cover tuition – they open doors, build confidence, and create long-term opportunities for students who deserve every chance to thrive.

Recently, we had the privilege of hearing from several scholarship recipients firsthand. Their stories of resilience, hope, and determination left a huge impact on our team and offered a powerful reminder of why this work matters.

Davida - Nursing Major, Class of 2028

Davida is a dedicated nursing student who grew up in Pomona, California and spent much of her childhood in foster care. Raised by her grandmother, she learned early what it means to care for others—something that now drives her dream of becoming a NICU nurse.

With no ability to work on campus due to the demands of her nursing program, Davida relies on the Fostering Futures scholarship for financial stability. The support allows her to focus on labs, clinicals, and coursework without the stress of affording tuition or necessities.

Today, Davida is thriving academically and moving confidently toward a future where she hopes to give back to families navigating some of life’s most difficult moments. She carries with her the deep gratitude of knowing she is not walking this path alone.

Harmony - Elementary & Special Education Major, Class of 2028

Harmony is a sophomore studying elementary and special education, driven by a lifelong desire to teach young students—especially those who require extra care and support. Because she entered the foster care system later in life, she never had a college fund or financial safety net.

The Fostering Futures scholarship changed everything. It allows Harmony to live on campus, fully experience student life, and work toward her goal of becoming a special education teacher. The support reminds her daily that her dreams are valid and achievable.

Harmony’s commitment is fueled by the belief that every child deserves the same encouragement she has been given. Her hope is to become a teacher who inspires the next generation with compassion, patience, and belief.

Damaris - Elementary Education Major, Class of 2029

Damaris is a freshman majoring in Elementary Education with a passion for giving every child the chance to succeed. After growing up in foster care, the idea of affording college seemed distant and unreachable.

Through the Fostering Futures scholarship, Damaris finally has stability—she can focus on her academic goals, meet her basic needs, and pursue education without the weight of financial stress.

The scholarship has given her both hope and direction. Damaris is committed to building a future where she uses her own story to empower students and serve her community with purpose and heart.

Jazzmyn - Communications Major, Class of 2027

Jazzmyn is a junior studying Communications, a field she loves for the way it brings people together and elevates voices that need to be heard. Growing up in foster care in Washington State and being the first in her family to attend college, she once questioned whether higher education was even possible.

Thanks to the Fostering Futures scholarship, Jazzmyn can pursue her degree, develop her skills, and invest in a future where she hopes to advocate for youth who share her story. The support has lifted a financial burden and reminded her that her journey matters.

Today, she is growing in confidence and preparing for a career where she can use her voice to make meaningful impact.

Connor - Engineering Major, Class of 2027

Connor is an engineering student who recently stepped into leadership as president of the campus club supporting former foster youth. Having grown up in foster care himself, he is passionate about creating community and support for students with similar backgrounds.

This year, the Fostering Futures scholarship made it possible for Connor to afford stable housing—giving him consistent access to food, a quiet place to study, and the security he never took for granted. With these needs met, he can focus fully on academics and leadership.

Connor dreams of becoming an engineer and using his career to support youth transitioning out of foster care. The scholarship has given him both stability and the confidence to pursue that vision boldly.

Gracie - Government Major, Class of 2029

Gracie is a freshman studying Government with aspirations of becoming a lawyer who advocates for children in foster care. Having lived through the challenges of the system herself, her passion for justice is deeply rooted and personal.

The Fostering Futures scholarship allows Gracie to live on campus and fully embrace the college experience she once wondered if she’d ever have. Without financial stress overshadowing her education, she can focus on building the foundation for a future career centered on advocacy and service.

Gracie is thriving, hopeful, and committed to becoming a voice for the vulnerable—motivated by the generosity that has helped open the door to her dreams.
